Important information on AIG Travel Insurance

Please note AIG will cease selling new travel insurance policies via our Direct Channels effective 1 August 2026.

We will stop renewing existing AIG Annual Multi-Trip Travel Insurance for our direct customers effective 1 September 2026.

Existing AIG Travel policyholders will continue to be covered and serviced in accordance with their current policy terms and conditions, until their policy expiry date

Existing Policy Coverage

Your existing AIG Travel Insurance policy remains valid until the expiry date stated in your Policy Schedule. All benefits, coverage and services stated in your Policy Schedule and Policy Wording remains unchanged.

Yes, your existing AIG Travel policy is valid until the expiry date as stated in your Policy Schedule, and you may continue to contact the AIG Customer Care team, for any matters regarding your existing AIG Travel policy.

Any refunds, if applicable, will follow the cancellation terms stated in your policy wording.

Emergency Assistance

If you have an existing AIG Travel policy, you may continue to contact the AIG Travel 24-Hour Emergency Assistance hotline at +44 (0) 1273 723 146 for assistance during your trip.

Claims

AIG will continue to manage any claims submitted for an existing AIG Travel policy.

You may refer to your Policy Schedule and Policy Wording for the relevant coverages under Trip Postponement or Trip Cancelation.

For Medical and other emergencies

The Medical Emergency Assistance Company, AIG Assistance Services, will provide immediate help if you are ill, injured or die outside the Republic of Ireland. They provide a 24-hour emergency service 365 days a year. The contact details are as follows:

Please have the following information available when you contact AIG Assistance Services so that your case can be dealt with swiftly and efficiently:

  • Your name and address;
  • Your contact phone number abroad;
  • Your policy number shown on your policy schedule; and
  • The name, address and contact phone number of your GP.

 

For All Other Claim Types (Cancellation, Baggage, Money, etc.)

Any occurrence or loss which may give rise to a claim should be advised immediately to our AIG Travel Claims, Sedgwick, Merrion Hall, Strand Road, Dublin 4. Telephone 01 261 1540. Claim forms can be downloaded here.

Renewal

For existing AIG Travel policies, the following will apply:

  • If your policy is expiring on or before 31st of August 2026, you will be able to renew your policy with AIG. Please refer to the policy renewal invitation which will be sent to you via email or mail prior to the expiry of your existing policy.
  • If your policy is expiring on or after 1st of September 2026, you will not be able to renew your policy with AIG. No renewal will be invited, irrespective of whether you previously chose the automatic renewal option. Please refer to the communication from AIG which will be sent to you via email or mail prior to the expiry of your existing policy.

Purchasing a New Policy

You may no longer purchase AIG Travel policies directly from AIG from the 1st of August 2026 for new business and from the 1st of September 2026 for renewal business.
