AIG Launch new Dub Club Health Initiative

The Heart Safety Roadshow as part of Dub Club Health launches for Dublin GAA clubs

AIG today launched Dub Club Health with its first program in the initiative called the Heart Safety Roadshow, a new club and community initiative in collaboration with Dublin GAA that aims to help support the health and wellbeing of Dublin GAA members across the club network. This initiative will consist of a number of road shows with themes and talks around health risks prevention and reduction, practical first aid training and advice, healthy living, physical activity, mental health and mindfulness.

Dublin players Cian O’Sullivan, Roisín Baker, Niamh McEvoy and Chris Crummey were at Parnell Park today to launch Dub Club Health.

AIG will be working closely with Dublin GAA and its Health & Wellness committee to collaborate and develop out meaningful programs under the initiative for club members.

The initiative will comprise a number of specific programs with the first program being the Heart Safety Roadshow that will provide valuable hands on training around CPR, choking, defibrillator/AED usage, storage & maintenance. In addition the program will include a full onsite defibrillator/AED health check and service.

In addition to the roadshows, AIG will look to support with a series of health and wellbeing related content in the form of videos, blogs, tips and advice to support the program.

Further roadshows being planned are:

  • Mental Health & Wellbeing – the mental health program will be a talk from a former elite Irish professional sportsperson and GAA club player/member telling a real life story of managing mental health to resonate and raise awareness. Highlighting how to spot warning signs and what to do to support is key so people have a take away at the end.
  • Physical Activity Roadshow – talk and tips from an expert. Optimizing your training, how to adapt training for immediate and longer term objectives, strength & conditioning, recovery and nutrition.
  • Yoga Roadshow – an introduction to Yoga, what it is, benefits and free class to taste the experience

The program also plans to leverage some current and former Dublin GAA stars and other ambassadors to be part of some roadshows. The initiative will kick off with 4 clubs being visited with others being announced and if clubs are interested in a visit they can register their interest at www.aig.ie/health

Speaking ahead of today’s launch General Manager of AIG in Ireland, Declan O’Rourke, said: “AIG is delighted to launch the new Dub Club Health initiative which will promote, support and encourage healthy living across Dublin GAA clubs and communities. As an insurance company we manage risk and risk prevention is a key part of our business so this initiative is the right fit for our business and the communities we serve. Finally, I would like to thank Dublin GAA for their support on this initiative and the Dublin GAA players for helping us launch the initiative today.”
